Do you have a dream ?
Do you long to one day bask in the glory of something you’ve yearned and worked for, all your life ? Do you wish to be different ? To create change ? To change the ways of those around ? Do you wish to see a miracle, or better still, create one?
I’ve seen more people coming together than ever before to discuss opportunities than ever before and hands reach out to causes they never knew existed in other parts of the world. I’ve seen blind people see and the terminally ill get a new lease at life.

Our lives and dreams
are constantly evolving, just as we are. With each cell that dies, and each new
cell that comes to be a part of our existence - we change. In fact, for real we
aren’t really the same person we were a few years ago. Put simply, every cell
in our being is recycled and replaced by a new one every few minutes.
So the next time
someone tells you, you’ve changed, ponder on the fact that you really have.
Isn’t it remarkable
then, that despite all these changes in our bodies, our brain still contains
all the data it should? That we can look at old photograph at ourselves and go,
“hey, that’s me” , that we can run into an old classmate and relive those
college memories even though we’re balding with huge bellies a few decades
later, that we can still keep secrets and say what we need to say even though
there are a hundred other thoughts running around in our minds?
That’s the beauty of
science.
The fact that we can
dream of reaching the moon and, a few decades and lots of research later, we
can actually land there reaffirms the fact that with science, more dreams can
come to life than ever before.
And this is the kind of
reassurance we need, at a time when there is a shortage for so many things, we
need more research and allocation towards creating more sustainable living,
towards making the future better for our children, our pets and our land.
My school days were
filled with dreams of the possibilities of science. In fact, the possibilities
are endless. Whether we choose to study science, arts or any other major; the
truth is that dreams do come to life with hard work, perseverance and effort.
With science I have
seen changes around me faster than I thought possible, I have seen living
standards improve, health rates go up and mortality rates go down.
I’ve seen more people coming together than ever before to discuss opportunities than ever before and hands reach out to causes they never knew existed in other parts of the world. I’ve seen blind people see and the terminally ill get a new lease at life.
More than anything, I
love how it’s possible now than ever before to challenge what’s possible. And
that’s what science does to me, it makes dreams come to life.
Thousands of dreams are
born every second and approximately the same number are killed elsewhere. Chase
your dreams , don’t let them get away.
My love for science has taken me places I
never thought I would go. Right from my early college days to where I am right
now. More on that, in my next blog on my experiences in college and discovering
how science helped change my life.
A very profound and thought provoking article sir
